The car, the ultimate in style, or is it?
News reports about a the global financial crisis don't lie the car market has been hit pretty hard with some very large manufacturers needing financial support from the government. Has any of this had an impact on the car as a style icon though? Well since the 1960's general car styling seems to have totally lost the plot, the dark decades of the 1970's and 80's, and to a lesser extent the 1990's have seen some total abominations in car designing, here are a few examples of what i am talking about:
Some shocking design work gone on there, i mean what were they thinking? The good news is, it really does seem like we are through whats been a dark 3 decades for car design. Car designers everywhere can now hold their heads up, well some of them at least. It seems since we moved into the 2000's the style has truely been put back into cars, whilst it's true there are still some shockers around, it is also true there are now some simply beautiful cars:
